The City of New Rochelle is making improvements to the full length of Quaker Ridge Road (QRR), including lane redesign, paving, and signal updates in accord with Complete Streets design guidelines, which focus on enhanced safety for all users.
The City is seeking funding to cover construction costs from Federal, State, and County partners, including an application through the new Westchester County Complete Streets Municipal Assistance grant program.
A public hearing to provide an update on the QRR final design and the City’s proposed application for construction funding, including the opportunity for the public to speak and provide comments on the project will be held on September 9, 2025 at City Hall. This will build on the extensive public outreach from prior years, including work with the Complete Streets committee and public hearings in 2019. Information from that time is available here.
The QRR project includes a redesign of the roadway by reducing motor vehicle lanes to allow space for new bicycle lanes and sidewalks on each side of the roadway. The design also includes new high visibility crosswalks and updated traffic signals, all of which will improve roadway safety and support the City’s climate goals by supporting active transportation trips.
The purpose of the meeting was to provide an opportunity for residents, individuals, local groups, public officials, and interested agencies to provide comments on the City's proposed application of the Projects final design for construction funding from the County's Complete Streets Program. The meeting was held at New Rochelle City Hall on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 during the public comment period at 7:00 PM. Further details to be provided via the agenda here.
