Summary

The City of New Rochelle, in partnership with the American Green Zone Alliance (AGZA), Quiet Communities, Inc. (QCi), and Sustainable Westchester, is implementing a comprehensive program to transition municipal operations, local businesses, and residents away from gas-powered landscape maintenance equipment and toward battery electric alternatives. This effort will improve air quality, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, reduce noise, and support worker health and community well-being.

This effort is supported by almost $400,000 in grant funding previously awarded by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) Clean Energy Communities program to aid the transition.

This fall, the city is launching a voucher program that will provide New Rochelle residents and city-based commercial businesses with a limited number of vouchers to offset the cost of new electric landscaping equipment.
